ABILENE, Texas — Cooper scored first but did not score again, falling in a defensive struggle to Wylie 17-7 in the Southtown Showdown at Shotwell Stadium Friday night.

The win gives Wylie a home playoff game against El Paso Andress and sends Cooper on the road to El Paso Chapin for the first round.

Collin Bruning was huge for Wylie in the fourth quarter. The Cougars blocked a punt and had the ball in the red zone, but Bruning stripped the ball and recovered the fumble on the next play to get the ball back to the offense.

He later returned an interception 69-yards for the game sealing score.
