COLLEGE

First meeting in series

The Wildcats get set for one of their toughest challenges of the season as they head to the Fargodome at North Dakota State in the second round of the FCS playoffs Saturday.

ACU shut out Northern Arizona 24-0 to advance last week, while the Bison had a bye and waited on the winner. It was the first shutout for the Wildcats since 2021.

North Dakota State has two losses this season, one in the opener at Colorado and the second 29-28 in their last outing at South Dakota.

NDSU lost in the semifinals to Montana last season, and the last of their nine FCS titles came in 2021.

The Wildcats hope to get starting quarterback Maverick McIvor back after he sat out the NAU game.

The winner of this game faces the winner of Saturday’s Mercer/Rhode Island contest in the FCS quarterfinals.

THE PICK: NORTH DAKOTA STATE
