Hardin-Simmons Holds Off Endicott in Top 10 D3 Battle + Photos

ABILENE, Texas — #7 Hardin-Simmons built a two-score second half lead and held off #9 Endicott at home Saturday 35-27 to avenge a loss to the Gulls in Massachusetts in 2023.

HSU tied the game at 14 just before the half on a Noah Garcia one-yard touchdown run and scored the first two touchdowns of the second half to go ahead 27-14 heading into the fourth.

The Gulls got within a touchdown twice, including on a nine-yard Clayton Marengi to Adam Goodfellow with 1:26 to go, but could not recover the ensuing onside kick.

The touchdown that proved to be the game clincher for the Cowboys came with 4:47 to go when Kyle Brown hit Dozie Ifeadi on a 34-yard connection.

HSU outgained the Gulls 409 to 335 in the game.

Brown threw for 229 yards and two scores, while Garcia ran for 116 yards and a touchdown. Colton Marshall ran for 50 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and Tailon Garrett led the HSU receivers with six catches for 122 yards and a touchdown.

Harrison Foster led the Cowboy defense with 12 tackles.

Hardin-Simmons (4-0, 1-0) will head to Belton to battle rival Mary Hardin-Baylor next Saturday.
