Lamar at ACU Photos

The Wildcats made it a happy homecoming with a 24-14 victory over Lamar.

ACU beat the Cardinals in Beaumont earlier this season 56-0 but this one was much harder.

The Wildcats trailed 17-14 at the half but scored the only ten points of the final two quarters to pull out the win to improve to 4-3 overall and 1-2 in conference play. Peyton Mansell took over for injured starting quarterback Stone Earle in the second quarter and ran for 106 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Lamar drops to 1-4, 0-2.

FYI, the gentleman in the sixth photo is Ove Johansson, who was the honorary captain today. He kicked the longest field goal ever 45 years ago today when he nailed a 69-yarder for ACU against East Texas State on October 15, 1976.
