Roscoe Rolls Past #9 Windthorst + Photos

ABILENE, Texas — Windthorst scored early, but Roscoe scored often to breeze past the Trojans 50-22 and into the third round of the playoffs.

The Trojans (9-3) turned a turnover into a quick touchdown to take a 7-0 first quarter lead, but the Plowboys (10-2) went on a 24-7 run the rest of the first half to lead it 24-14 at the half.

Roscoe kept pouring it on in the second half, using a nearly unstoppable running game to pull away and earn the win. Roscoe is in the regional round of the playoffs for the first time since 2015 and will face the winner of Friday’s Collinsville/Miles game next week. This is their first ten-win season since 2008.

Ivan McCann racked up 272 yards and five touchdowns on the ground to lead the Plowboys, and Aiden Cerna was nearly as good, going for 149 yards and another score.

Jace Arnwine only had to throw the ball six times, completing three of them for 102 yards. Seth Wilcox caught two passes for 80 yards and a touchdown, and Cerna caught the other for a 22-yard gain.

The Plowboys will face either their fourth state-ranked team of the season in Collinsville next week (they have losses to #1 Albany and #3 New Home and tonight’s win over #9 Windthorst) or district rival Miles, whom they snuck past 34-33 in the regular season.
