Jayton Pulls Away From Two-Time Defending State Champ Benjamin + Photos

ABILENE, Texas — Jayton stayed perfect on the season with a 100-50 victory over two-time defending 1A Division II state champion Benjamin at McMurry Friday night.

The Jaybirds got nine touchdowns from Bode Ham to lead their offensive attack and got just enough stops against Keegan Hayes and the Mustangs to pull away for the win early in the fourth quarter.

Hayes and Benjamin did their best despite having much less depth, keeping the game relatively close in the first half and staying alive until the fourth quarter.

The Jaybirds will take on Klondike next week in the 1A Division II state semifinals, a team they already beat this season 50-0 in week two.

The Mustangs end their 2024 season with a 9-2 record.
